The Massachusetts Department of Public Health recently adopted new guidance for individuals with respiratory infections, including COVID. This guidance manages illnesses like flu, COVID, and RSV in the same manner. Some of the key points:

There is no longer a mandatory 5 day isolation period for COVID.

You can resume normal activities with precautions if: 

a.      You have not had a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicines; AND 

b.      Your other symptoms are improving AND

c.      For at least the first 5 days after you resume normal activities, you take extra precautions:

1.      Wear a mask anytime you are indoors around other people 

2.      Frequent handwashing

3.      Avoid spending time with people who are at increased risk for severe disease
