A person is at risk if they have any of the following risk factors:

  • Previously elevated impaired fasting glucose
    or previously impaired glucose tolerance

At least two of the following characteristics:

  • Overweight
  • Family history of diabetes
  • History of gestational diabetes,
or delivery of a baby over 9 pounds
  • 65 years of age or older
